    Spagnolo_DanielaDaniela Spagnolo-vocals, with Bill Moio-guitar and Todd Johnson-bass

Born in Rome-Italy, Daniela sparks the imagination to all who listen. Her vocal stylings are inspired by the great jazz vocalists – Ella Fitzgerald and Sarah Vaughan.

Raised in New York, much of her training and experience had been with such jazz notables: Ed Thigpen, Barry Harris, Andy Simpkins, John Hammond and the late-great Lester Bass.

Daniela has also been seen and heard on Film and Television on such shows as the Tonight Show w/ Jay Leno and Arsenio Hall. Her vocal talents can also be heard on Lexus, Blockbuster Video, Timex, Bank Of Ohio w/James Earl Jones and many more. Also, live performances with David Lee Roth, Patty Austin, Jackson Browne and Patrice Rushen.

She released her first CD “Daniela Sings” recorded at the famous “Capitol Records” in Hollywood CA with the legendary Al Schmitt. “Daniela Sings” was considered for a “Grammy” in 2009. The “Los Angeles Music Awards” also nominated songs from the CD in two categories. Not bad for a first release! Featured on the CD – Joe Porcaro on drums, Jim Hughart on bass & John Chiodini on guitar creating a “world-class” jazz trio which Daniela continues to perform with.

Don’t miss Daniela in this special appearance!

    Lauxman_Jacob 640x360Jacob Lauxman-guitar

    Chris Peña-piano, Eric Rasmussen-alto saxophone, Jerome Salazar-bass, Jesse-Lee Yarbrough-drums

Jacob Lauxman picked up the guitar at the end of middle school, initially only playing rock. After being introduced by a friend to jazz, he joined the Arizona Jazz Academy (now Tucson Jazz Institute) and Catalina Foothills High School’s jazz programs during his sophomore year of high school. in 2006, Jacob was able to travel with the AJA’s “Ellington band” to Europe where he performed at Montreux Jazz and Jazz a Vienne Festivals. At the end of his senior year in high school, Jacob was awarded a full ride scholarship through Sedona Jazz on the Rocks to attend Berklee College of Music’s summer Five Week Program. He then studied and graduated from Arizona State University under the direction of Michael Kocour as a jazz guitar performance major.

Since graduating ASU Jacob continues to perform; also teaching guitar and jazz both privately, in schools, and in various rock and roll full-band workshops around the valley as well as group masterclasses with his graduated jazz peers of ASU at local high schools’ jazz programs.

In this performance at The Nash, Jacob will play the music of Kurt Rosenwinkel, one of the most emotive interpreters of standards repertoire, but also one of his generation’s most prolific composers. The National Endowment for the Arts Composer’s Award winner asserts that it is his writing which helped develop what has now become a singular voice in modern jazz.
