Fresh off her tour with Lyle Lovett: Francine Reed!

From the mid-1970s through the early 90s, Francine reigned as the most popular jazz and blues vocalist in the Valley.  In fact, she was still winning New Times/Best of Phoenix awards  after she moved to Atlanta!  Francine appeared with her bands Jazz Alive and Fever at venues such as The Boojum Tree, Chuy’s and Chuy’s Next Door/The Night Club, Churchill’s Pub and Bombay Bicycle Club, plus numerous festivals and concert halls. She has been part of Lyle Lovett’s Large Band since the mid 80’s, appeared on The Tonight Show, and appeared for many seasons in Seattle’s high-energy dinner-theatre cabaret, Teatro ZinZanni.  What an amazingly diverse and exciting career!

October 5 The Nash 6th Anniversary Celebration: Soiree – The Lewis Nash Classic Trio (House Party) @ Private Home (near The Nash)
Oct 5 @ 6:00 PM – 9:00 PM

Lewis Nash’s trio reputation may be best expressed by his decade-long membership in the Tommy Flanagan Trio. The legendary Flanagan was known to have preferred ‘the intuitive, always-ready Nash to any other drummer.’ Along with Flanagan on piano and Peter Washington on bass, the trio created some of the most memorable jazz recordings of the 1990s. This intimate soiree performance by the Lewis Nash Classic Trio with Peter Washington on bass and a world-renowned surprise guest on piano takes place in an elegant high-rise condo overlooking the Phoenix Japanese Friendship Garden. Complimentary wine and hors d’oeuvres will help to make this a memorable experience. Limited to around 70 guests.

His music was hailed by fans as a progressive alliance between jazz and classical music – and always ahead of its time. Trumpeter Mike Vax, who served The Kenton band as first trumpet, soloist, road manager and co-leader, continues to honor and amplify Kenton’s enduring legacy through the Stan Kenton Legacy Orchestra, which blends themes from the Kenton book with sparkling new compositions.
