Warren Wolf-vibraphone, Angelo Versace-piano, Tom Wakeling-bass, Dom Moio-drums

Warren Wolf is a vibraphone virtuoso and one of the instrument’s brightest stars. The 36-year-old Baltimore native plays the vibes with amazing control, sensitive touch and fiery percussive skills.

Wolf puts on a show that takes his audience on a joyride — from grooving stuff to straight burning stuff. “My live shows are all about giving the audience a little bit of everything, not just one style of music or one type of jazz. I like to show that there’s always another side of Warren Wolf,” says the classically trained multi- instrumentalist, who has also been a member of the SFJAZZ Collective for the past two years. “I’m not just Warren Wolf the jazz musician who went to the Berklee College of Music and studied bebop, I’m Warren Wolf the musician who actually knows a lot of music from bebop to pop music, Motown, fusion and classical.”

Since graduating from Berklee, Wolf has taken the jazz world by storm, first as a sideman in Christian McBride’s Inside Straight quintet, then with his self-titled Mack Avenue debut in 2011 and Wolfgang in 2013.

This shows features two world-renowned trumpet players who made their marks in different musical genres – Vax in jazz as co-leader of the Stan Kenton Orchestra, and Romm as a principal in the classical Canadian Brass. As their tours crossed paths around the world over 45 years, Vax and Romm mused about doing an album together. Finally recorded this summer at The Nash, “Collaboration” personifies their relentless passion for the music through an eclectic repertoire ranging from a Gospel Hymn and Hayden Concerto to Coronet Chop Suey, The Summer Knows, The Shadow of Your Smile, to Clifford Brown and BeBop. This CD release party will recreate some of the great moments of project, performed by the original cast of characters.
