Josh Condon and Friends – The Music of Oscar Peterson
Josh Condon-piano, Bill Moio-guitar, Dwight Kilian-bass, Dom Moio-drums
Oscar Peterson (1925-2007), once called the “Maharajah of the Keyboard,” by Duke Ellington, was one of the most influential jazz pianists of all time. His life work includes over two hundred recordings, eight Grammy Awards, and over sixty years of live performances. Known for his swinging style and extraordinary piano technique, Peterson helped usher jazz into the concert hall and epitomized the style of jazz piano playing as influenced by Art Tatum. In this performance, pianist Josh Condon takes a look at the original compositions of Oscar Peterson, frequently performed by Peterson, but rarely heard by other small groups. Come on out for an evening of music written by one of jazz’s all-time greats!
