Union/32 Quintet: Keith Kelly – Tenor Saxophone and Flute, Adam Roberts – Tenor and Soprano Saxophone, Brett Reed – Vibraphone, Ben Hedquist – Upright Bass, Conor Sample – Drums and Cymbals

A kaleidoscopic view of the great record, taking the audience to unexplored aspects of the songs from “Revolver” – the 1966 classic Beatles recording. Highlights include: a drum-and-bass version of ‘Eleanor Rigby’, an avant-garde jazz version of ‘Yellow Submarine’; and a harmonically-dense ballad of ‘And Your Bird Can Sing’ reminiscent of the music Bill Evans.

Led by Dr. Brett Reed (vibraphone) Union/32 explores the rich musical traditions of various jazz composers and genres. For the past 10 years, Union/32 has brought great music to audiences around the Southwest. Whether playing the music of West Coast Jazz giants like Cal Tjader and Dave Brubeck, exploring Afro-Cuban jazz, or creating original jazz arrangements of the Beatles’ iconic Revolver record, Union 32’s presents vibrant and thrilling instrumental jazz music.

Union/32 is comprised of faculty members from Paradise Valley Community College and regularly includes Dr. Keith Kelly (saxophones, flute), Adam Roberts (saxophones), Jerry Rulon-Maxwell (guitar), Pam Morita (piano), Dr. Ben Hedquist (upright and electric bass), and Ryan Anthony (drums and cymbals).
