About This Event

The Superstition Jazz Orchestra presents:
Something old. Something new. Something borrowed and the blues.

Celebrating the vast riches of big band music, the Superstition Jazz Orchestra, under the direction of multi-instrumentalist/composer Mike Crotty, will present a musical, Thanksgiving cornucopia, featuring composers from Thad Jones to Carole King. ‘Something old’ and ‘something new’ will include selections from the legendary Thad Jones/Mel Lewis Jazz Orchestra to original compositions and arrangements by band members Michael Collins, Nick Cooper, Mike Crotty and vocalist Deater O’Neill. Borrowing from Carole King, Deater will share a unique restyling of “So Far Away”, as well as her own bluesy original, “Sticky Wicket”.

The SJO continues its goal to perform rarely heard pieces for big band, as well as premiering original works by members of the band.
