The Nash Presents Marilyn Szabo: Music Is Life

Szabo is a veteran photographer who has been capturing striking imagery fueled by her love of history and photography for more than twenty five years. Her photography explores a variety of diverse subjects including architecture, landscape, and people, creating stunning and intimate works, preferring to work in series. Growing up in the heart of American history – Norfolk, Virginia, Marilyn Szabo began a lifelong interest in history and photography. She was traditionally trained in photography, receiving her BA from Virginia Commonwealth University.

Szabo’s successful virtuoso range of themes include images of Maria Callas, unconventional landscapes such as “X’s and O’s: Dreamtime”, “Jessica’s Wedding” and the “Mermaid.” She has been published Black and White, Focus, and Sun Magazine. Her work is represented in many collections throughout the United States. Alligator Juniper, a national literary magazine, awarded Szabo the 2010 National Photography Award and the cover. She has received five arts commission awards and has had numerous one person shows.

In 2003, Marilyn was hired by Alliance Bank of Arizona founding president and CEO, James H. Lundy, to curate an ever-growing photography exhibition, At Work in Arizona, for the banks offices and branches. In 2014, Szabo curated At Work in Arizona, a 168 page book with more than 200 images chosen from 350 images in the collection.

Her work can be found in many public and private collections throughout the United States. She has extensively exhibited her artwork nationally and internationally while garnering numerous awards and grants.
